After two months of not running due to an injury on the outside/back of my right knee, I finally got into the doctor--just a general practitioner--and was diagnosed with patellofemoral pain syndrome. Doc didn't do any x-rays or MRI, but he did perform just about every diagnostic test in the book, so it would seem that he was able to rule out joint/cartilage problems.
However, we all know that PFPS is kind of a bullshit diagnosis; more of a symptom than a true injury, really, and very vague.
One thing that causes me extreme pain is doing a single-leg hop (or, similarly, running fast upstairs). I could do these all day long on my left leg, but even once with my right is very painful in the area outside and back of my knee.
Can anyone interpret this? I've had no luck with google.
