I would like to have my teeth professionally whitened, though not to the degree of, say Erik Estrada, but at least to restore original whiteness later stained by tea, vitamin pills and whatever else. I would like to learn of your experiences and recommendations.
I had my teeth whitened professionally by my dentist in 2011. It was some of the best money I've ever spent. My teeth were always slightly yellow from the time I was a kid (far before I ever started drinking coffee), so I was concerned that the process wouldn't make a difference. It made a huge difference. My dentist was careful not to make them veneer, fake-looking white. I was very, very pleased.
I had to wear trays with a whitening solution every night for two weeks. Then I went back in for a final treatment which consisted of three application of tray with extremely strong whitening chemicals for just a few minutes each. I now wear the trays one night every month just to keep it up. I also haven't had a cup of coffee since. My dentist told me that wasn't necessary as long as I used the touch up trays once a month, but I didn't want to take any chances.
The best advice I can give you is go to a reputable dentist and do it right. You really get what you pay for in this instance. It cost me $600. That sounds like a lot, but if you divide that by how many times you show your teeth in a day, it's a hell of a value.
