Running my first marathon in SA and wanted to go sub 3-hours but was wondering if anyone had any tips about the course.
The course is relatively flat. The real issue with the course is that the second half will pretty much be a solo effort. Once the half marathoners cut out, you will pretty much be by yourself. The second half of the marathon goes south of the city. It is not dangerous, but it is not a pretty neighborhood. But you will eventually end up on the bike path for a good part of the run back into town. It will feel a bit like a training run at times.
