Pathetic. I do wonder though how many of these people are misinformed vs uninformed. To me there is a big difference between someone thinking the earth can't be billions of years old because "that's a really long time", and someone holding the positive belief that the earth was created supernaturally 6,000 years ago.
I thought the early seasons were good but it jumped the shark when Amy and Sheldon started dating.

I'm surprised the gap between the Big Bang and evolution isn't greater.
Evolution is a well thought out theory with a LOT of evidence to back it up. It is very well substantiated. I believe in evolution.
The Big Bang is mostly horse sh*t. The mere fact that it is called the "Big Bang" is further testament to that. Is there anything else in science where the theory is essentially "many particles collided, x, y and z occurred (and we don't know what those are), and then voila, out came our universe." Of course there are smaller details for the physicists here, but that is essentially it. Oh and of course the Big Bang violate other laws of physics (matter can not be created) as well.

I agree, but the TV show points up one fact that few seem to understand on BOTH sides of the debate. That fact is this: the universe has FAR MORE to do with sex than science! The REAL "big bang" was that God (who is a woman) HAD SEX with the Devil (who is a man)! The creation of the universe is ABOUT SEX (just like everything else).

I was actually surprised they were as far apart as they are. Usually the only reason someone would reject either is on religious grounds as both are equally solid theories backed up by enormous amounts of evidence. It seems weird to me that someone would basically say "Yeah, I think biologists are really smart and know what they are talking about, but astronomers and astrophysisits are full of $h!t."
Also, feel free to look up Lawrence Krauss: A Universe From Nothing if you think that the Big Bang Theory violates any physical laws

You think the big bang theory was that matter was suddenly created with a big bang?
It's that all of matter was condensed in one small extremely dense area and began to expand outward 13.8 billion years ago.
The big bang was the moment this happened.
Using the laws of physics this time can be determined by tracking the expanse of all known matter and the law that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.
Many measurements, observations and studies have corroborated this theory.
Time and matter existed before this but they do not have any good theories of what this was.

Irrational losers who can't deal with reality.
Go prove that Willard Libby's Nobel Prize for radiocarbon dating is wrong, citing actual evidence that can be repeated. And if the science behind radiocarbon dating is wrong, then the radiation effects in Japan aren't actually happening. Can't have it both ways.
I think this shows that the average American is well informed. What are the numbers for Namibia?

Hey, if you want ignorant, try this:
"Does the Earth go around the sun, or does the sun go around the Earth?
"When asked that question, 1 in 4 Americans surveyed answered incorrectly. Yes, 1 in 4. In other words, a quarter of Americans do not understand one of the most fundamental principles of basic science. So that’s where we are as a society right now.
"The survey, conducted by the National Science Foundation, included more than 2,200 participants in the U.S., AFP reports.
. . .
"Here’s the thing, though: Americans actually fared better than Europeans . . . . Only 66 percent of European Union residents answered that one correctly."

1 in 4 Americans don't know the Earth revolves around the Sun.
The Big Bang theory is pseudo creationism nonsense, most Americans are right to reject it.

Well ... neither is right. In what rest frame are you observing the rotation? If you simplify the problem to the universe just consisting of the earth and sun then really they are rotating around some point between them. Granted it is closest to the sun...
Except of course for the fact that everything was traveling a lot faster than the speed of light during the early inflationary period according the the Big Bang theory.
Minor detail, I know.

Minor detail, I know.
For example, the current estimate for the radius of the visible universe is about 46 billion light years. Pretty nifty trick covering 46 billion light years in 13.8 billion years (age of universe) while staying under the speed of light!
Know who believes in the big bang? Your mom.
Well evolution is still a mere theory and a big bang needs a big banger.
I think she looks amazing with certain hairdos, and only okay with others. Kinda bizarre.
