You can suck it. You feel good about yourself?
she accomplished her goal of being on TV for 90 minutes
Making the turn at the fire station where the uphills begin...
At the finish line when she hit her goal of running a 2:22 and was still in 6th place.
Regardless of tactics, she wasn't winning today. Her strategy today gave her the best chance.
her main goal today was to get that navel on TV for as much time as possible. mission accomplished
She ran an american record and a huge PR. Way to go Shalane.
don't see the physical appeal, but she is quite a runner and deserves props for the effort today!

Wait, "she wasn't winning today" and "her strategy today gave her the best chance" are mutually contradictory.
Either she had a chance or she did not. You can't have it both ways.

Kastor holds the AR. Flanagan ran very well and it was course record for an American at Boston. It should not be referred to as the American record.
I don't any woman, not even if the Kiplagats ran Boston instead of London, could have beaten Rita Jeptoo today.
Flanagan's strategy reminded me of Niiya in last years' 10,000m world championship. It was her only chance to win/medal.

She had no chance to win today. Her best was over 5 mins slower than the best runners. Until she stopped to puke at the 30k mark, she was running 2:20 pace - 5 minutes under her best. For her to finish that last 10k and still best her best by 3 minutes was amazing. The tough gutsy runner of the race goes to Shalene Flanagan.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
