As a kid, I was slow as they come. In 6th grade I had trouble running under 18 seconds for the 100m. In 8th I went 16.24 and 5:26 for the mile, this was the last time I ever ran a timed 100m sprint. These are my PR's:
5k-- 17:45
mile--5:00
800-- 2:15
400-- 63 ALL OUT
200-- never have run under 30 or ran the event
So, as my top end speed is a limiting factor, and I am curious to see what happens, I will become a sprinter from when track ends to July. Can someone give me a schedule so that I can gain functional weight (incredibly skinny), increase speed, and improve explosiveness? I am not in terrible shape, and can muster around 35 push-ups in a row, but I want to get this to around 100. Ideally, I want to be able to split 55 sec for the 400m next season. Additionally, what should I do to retain the speed gains I receive during this time? I've noticed my legs are incredibly weak, I'm unexplosive, and am not quick whatsoever.
