Who?
64:35 really is awful for him. That's over 5:00 pace. He should be able to do better than that after a 25k run and night out drinking.

It's not over 5:00 pace, dipsh@t
64:35 is not necessarily awful. Remember in 2011 Patrick Makau ran 63:52 for half marathon in Ras AlKhaima in February. He went on to run 2:05:45 for third in London and then in September broke the world record. He most likely ran it while in heavy training or might have been recovering from some injury and had to be extra cautious. So far his marathons have been super great so we will only say something about his fitness after he finishes the race on Monday. We should also remember that every once in a while everyone is entitled to a bad race! Just shows you are human.
Does anyone know where/when this race took place? [I'm not seeing any 2014 1/2 marathon result for him on his iaaf profile.]

for a prep race - maybe he'll break 8:40 for the 2 mile this spring.
Word on the streets in Eldoret and Iten has it that D. Kimetto is bad news! They say the guy is in 2:03 shape and will be targeting at least 2:04 on Monday. Franklin Chepkwony who trains in the same Geoffrey Mutai group with Kimetto was recruited to help push the pace with him starting around 28km. It should be very interesting to watch on Monday. The idea of pushing the pace early is designed to get rid of Desisa who has a habit of gluing himself on the leader's heels all the way without taking initiative to push the pace. We should expect a low 2:05 if he fails to hit his goal. The race will be decided early and will be won by a big margin.

Desisa was especially annoying in Moscow and I relished Kiprotich literally shaking him off by zig-zagging the street then dropping him.

No we should definitely not expect that.

Wow - those are really ugly splits. Does anyone know what the heck happened? Very tough for me to see him running 2:05 low in Boston after that kind of prep race 6 weeks or so ago.
What Desisa did in Moscow was despicable and he lost my respect. He should have helped to push the pace since his PB is more than two minutes faster than Kiprotich's. He simply "fell asleep" on Kiprotich's heels planning to wake up probably in the last mile and kick past Kip(typical Ethiopian mischief). The Ugandan realized this and did a good job by zigzagging, at one point running in the opposite direction from that of the route. He wont be lucky this time round.

He didn´t really race @ finish. Hope it isn´t malaria again ...
it is a very hilly course. That alone cost him 2-3min.

I think it´s more like the high altitude...
Een keer. Er zit geen heuveltjes in het parcours...
That sounds awful.
Except, if he ran it as a work out.
