The TC Mile can be hit or miss. Yes, it's competitive, but it's broken into divisions and a runner like you could fall through the cracks. There's the professional race, for sub 4 minute types, and then there's the team circuit race, which is competitive (usually won around 4:15) but is reserved for athletes representing one of the local clubs. You can't get in that race as a non-club athlete. Finally there's the open race, which usually has a couple of fast guys but is pretty thin most years. If you're looking to run under 4:30 or even under 4:40, there's a good chance you'll be alone or very near alone in the open race.
