If anyone owns stock in Al Sal I would suggest selling as soon as you can. The price is dropping FAST.

What did he say/do to Lopez, any specifics? No wonder he crushed the 1500.
Agreed, I'd really like to hear more about what he said to Lomong.
Al Sal really is making a name for himself... I always respected him and NOP cause they get results, however I feel that he's gone WAY too far this time... if this were any other coach how would usatf handle it? they should handle him the same way, no exceptions.
Here's Bumby's story, in his own words: http://spikeduppsychedup.com/2014/02/25/dq-andrew-bumbalough-mens-3000-meter-final/
Are people on this board really that emotionally swayed.
"Wah...Grunewald had cancer... you can't criticize here"
"Boohooo....Lomong was a lost boy...he can do no wrong"
all that stuff doesn't matter in the heat of competition. grow up people
This wasn't in the heat of competition. Lomong didn't do anything wrong. He just raced. Salazar should not be yelling at any athletes but his own. Intimidating your athlete's competitors/getting USATF to help intimidate and plant the idea that, hey, if you try to dictate terms to our guy, if you even touch our guy, you're out of here - not cool.
Obviously I think Salazar lost it and was being an a-shole. But I must asked, how come people have drug up the “man we always jostled in the old days” excuse but suddenly get all touchy feely about Salazar’s passion. Hate to break the news here but Coaches yelled a lot more than they do now. So how is the “old school” an excuse in one case but not in the other?

Did Lomong get in the way of an NOP athlete? Did Al Sal speak to Lomong in the middle of a race that Al Sal was in?
Your "heat of the competition" argument is invalid.

Because Bill Bowerman, John McDonnell, and Ted Haydon never abused their authority and they never intimidated officials.

Agreed. Therefore, the real question is as follows: Since Al Sal was being such a d-bag, why didn't Justin or Lopez just beat the crap out of him? I was once a skinny distance runner too, but back in the day I'm pretty sure I could have taken a 50-something has-been with a bad ticker.
No wonder distance runners get taunted by the likes of XFit Guy...
John Gugala is tweeting Lomong's comments on the encounter now.
if you check @jongugala's feed on twitter, he's got the interview with lopez lomong about alsal berating him in the mixed zone:
sorry for the formatting but here's a quick cut-and-paste
Jon Gugala @JonGugala 14m
Lomong: “To see the outrage in [Salazar's] eyes, he was very, very mad. I didn’t even have any contact with [Rupp] at all . . .

Says there were a lot of kids around trying to get autographs. Salazar was physically restrained by other coaches “talking him down.”

Just spoke with Lopez Lomong. Salazar screamed at him in front of fans and a USATF merchandise tent. Direct quotes coming shortly.

When did Bill Bowerman, John McDonnell, and Ted Haydon berate other athletes? Examples needed please.

Right.
Unhinged criticism on the web will do him in
Legitimate criticism on the internet got that DQ reversed.
Salazar will up the Xanax dosage and be on good behavior now. All this Salazar attention must feel like a colorectal probe.

It is not criticism on the web that will do him in but his own boorish actions in front of fans and athletes at track meets.
it's sounding like the only rupp certified races will be carefully put together time trials with designated rupp rabbits and the like.
man, the africans have to be happy about all this - merga is probably calculating how many elbows he has to throw before salazar rushes the track in rio.

Actually, you need to read the Bowerman biography. He was constantly abusing athletes on other teams and was not above cheating by any means. Bowerman was a person of low moral character.
