Brannen turns in a nice mile at the Spire. New field house record and first sub four there. Jake Edwards also dipped under.

Brannen and Webb were college roommates - and now that Webb is retiring who would you say had the better career?
Webb - fast times but Brannen has been to more world Champs and Olympic Games and continues to be competitive in races.
A 300 meter track that's a 3 hour drive from Cambridge, Ont.
So I guess it was worth the drive?
i saw it live GO CANADA GO!!!
Jake Edwards with huge PR and first sub 4!!!

Webb.
But Brannen quite clearly got "more" out of his talent.

Brannen continues to be more competitive? 4:03 and 3:58 are equally irrelevant on the world scene. How many international races has Brannen won? What top guys has he beaten?
Nate is consistent, but he has never been a world beater or a threat on the big stage.
Webb was inconsistent, but for a few brief weeks there he was one of the very best.
I think 10yrs down the road Webb will have had a more lasting impact on the sport.
Brannen actually won a medal in a larger meet than Webb has ever successfully participated in.
Webb had a better career. In addition to a vastly superior set of timers and a much wider range (up to the 10,000), he was, for awhile in 2007, the best 1500/mile runner in the world.
is this a joke?
Brannen at his best was a very good runner, but never a top competitor in the world. Webb obviously was. Webb spent a year being the best middle distance runner on the planet, and another year as one of the best 1500 guys in the world. Plus he has run insanely fast. His range is one of the best all-time. Brannen never reached that level at any point in any event.

He has been to more championships because he runs for Canada. Webb by far. Silly question.
No, he's been to more Championships because he is consistent. Webb should have had no trouble making any Championship he wanted to go to.

Wrong as usual SMJO. If Nate Brannen were American he would have only had a possibility (with A-standard) of 3 global championships.

obi right.
WWebb won USAs twice. probably at least as tough as Brannen's silver (Commonwealth)

Commonwealth games was/is a joke for 1500. None of the top 10 Kenyans competed - the fastest one had a PR of 3:39. Ethiopians, Turkish, Spanish, etc aren't in the Commonwealth obviously. A typical Golden League meet has stronger competition.
For direct comparison's sake, Brannen's silver was to Willis. Webb beat Willis the next year in the WC final, behind a bunch of guys who did not run Commonwealth.
But SMJO implies that it was a bigger meet than Webb has ever competed in, which include the World Championships and Olympic Games, so keep that in mind when discerning his posts.
That's horseshit. I could kick his ass on and off the track!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
