mile win over Lomong, 800 win over Lalang. pretty nice opener.

Rupp is planning on running US nats this year, right?
Bayer at 4:07/1:54.
Thanks Jerry, you're lucky you have 15 studs to coach at once.

yes
uhhh, gonna go out on a limb and guess he was asking that sarcastically...as in "what the h*ll does it matter what Ryan H. did, Rupp is running nats so game over".

I actually wasn't being sarcastic. Hill' mile altitude converts to 3:54, that's not a bad opener at all. Great, in fact. US champs should be exciting this year, it will be a dog fight for those 2 spots.
Rupp, Lagat, Lomong, Hill, Lear all running the 3k.
Garrett Heath running either the 3k or 1500m.
Maybe Jager in the 3k as well.
Only 2 spots available per event for Worlds.
Many big names will not make the team.
@Dover, my apologies. agree that it's a great performance for Hill. i think that 3K/somewhere between the mile & 5K might be his best distance. Leer ran 8:08 at 7000ft in Flagstaff yesterday, pretty salty. man if all the guys mentioned below run, what a 3K....wonder if any will make a decision to drop down to the 1500 given how stacked the 3K field might be? a lot of big 1500 names didn't look in that good of form at the Armory yesterday.has Jager mentioned a track opener? has Derrick said if he's doing any track after USA XC? other names i am unsure of that would be potential 3K guys: Bumbi, Hulling, Mead...more?

Does anyone know when Derrick, Jager, and Bumbalough are debuting? I'm surprised they weren't part of the Albuquerque trip, but maybe they're focusing on different events or are not as sharp yet, or maybe sharper?

I've read a couple of things from/about Derrick that he's hitting XC hard, including nationals. I think he might not do indoor at all. Jager and Bumbalough raced last year, so Jerry's not ready for them to make another public appearance yet. Wouldn't want it to get out that they exist, after all.

Lol
Jager will run the mile at U-dub on Saturday.
Those are pretty good marks to open with, but I'm trying not to read too much into them because HA affects athletes differently. Unless Hill is one of those people who are barely affected by altitude, that was a really good double.
Bumbalough is opening next weekend.
