Yeah for him to run 2 marathons in a weekend (and run them well) is not unusual. (Obviously 2 in a day is out of the ordinary but he still did awesome.) I wish I knew how he could run like this without constantly having serious injuries.

Congratulations to Wardian. I'm sure the 2:31 puts him well ahead of eharmony. And if it doesn't, I'm sure his 2:17 does.
I applaud Mike's ignorance... the dude just missed a complete year due to a pelvic stress fracture, and then immediately jumps back into the kind of behavior that got him injured in the first place.
However, in the meantime, he will run some great performances before they injury cycle hits again. I just wish he would learn and chill out. Maybe today proved that to him - he's not at the fitness he used to be... he is not the Mike Wardian of old. 2:31/2:58 is well below his expectations, and for those of you who know Mike, he has lofty expectations.
Interested to see what's next. Anyone know if he's racing at JFK?

He turns 40 in April.
A 2:31 and a 2:58 in the same day, with a plane trip in between is really insane.
I think he would have had a chance in ideal conditions.
It was between 70-75F during the San Antonio M. He was trying for 2:29 and ended up running 2:31. A 2:31 in that kind of weather certainly means he could have run ~2:25 in 50F. Or 2:29 with sparing a lot of resources. But the 2:31 indicates he was fighting and it was a full out effort.
You can't run another great Marathon after a 100% effort.
he still accomplished more in one day that you've done in your whole life. you knew that already that though.
I know some people who ran San Antonio. Conditions were awful. Basically summer time humidity and temps in the mid 70s with enough of a breeze to burn extra energy on half the race, but not enough to provide a boost going the other way with the wind at your back.
I really like what Wardian does. He is candid that he is no where near the talent of the top distance guys in the country and just loves racing and testing his limits. He will certainly need to adjust his expectations as he ages up into masters running. But, he has had a pretty amazing run of multiple marathons and ultra races without a significant injury.
He had surgery last year for multiple hernias and stress fractures, so his racing regimen did take a toll.
