What a bunch of BS on this thread. A world class athlete expressed support for her country's laws and called out those who came to her country and disrespected it.
In all that I've read, she was not hateful or bigoted in her words. She simply said she had always tried to respect the laws and customs of countries in which she competes and that other athletes should do the same while in Russia. Yes, she said she agreed with the law and that she believes heterosexuality is "normal". If gay people think that's hate speech, you need to grow some balls and a thicker skin. I've heard more hateful and derisive words about the geographical region in which I live, ON THIS VERY BOARD, and probably by some of you on this thread.
You politically correct pansies preach tolerance until someone disagrees with YOU. Hypocrites. Good on her for speaking her mind.
For the record, I have no problem with homosexuality. I've been to gay bars (with a female date and it was a hoot!) have gay friends (not many, a few) and believe in live and let live. What you do in the privacy of your home is none of my business. Just keep it there, thank you.
