It was Aregawi, Cain, and someone else who I don't remember (not an American.) She used a huge kick in the last 100 meters and passed 3 or 4 people. Is this realistic?

If it's tactical... most definitely.
Might have been Dibaba for the bronze. Hopefully, because I chose Aregawi, Simpson, Dibaba in the prediction contest.
Just what we need, another American silver medal followed by a bunch of threads hating on the runners tactics. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
At the same age as Mary, Jim Ryun made the Olympics ('64) but got knocked out in the semi. So Mary just became the GOAT has far as high school is concerned.
I can't see anyone beating Aregawi, but I CAN see Jenny and Mary getting silver and bronze.
I agree. i hope no one falls. the 1500 makes me nervous.
I just don't see cain beating simpson or aregawi. she can beat dibaba, as we just witnessed (running in lane 2-3)
i'm impressed that she ran 4:05low from lane 2-3 with such bad splits. something like 64, 69, 67, 45
I've got Cain for bronze in my prediction. She's an underdog for sure, mainly due to her youth and inexperience. But there's a chance! If she's in the mix with 200 to go, look out!
Seriously? My second post about riding on Cain's shoulders got deleted too? It is
1) running related because it is about an elite runner
2) not breaking any forum rules about profanity, sexuality
When is the 1500 final anyway?

Didn't some other guy on here dream that Gebremeskel would defeat Farah in the 10000m?
Mary Cain will PR, but will not get a medal. She is still not quite at her competitors level, but that will change in 2015 WC and 2016 Olympics.
think of how good german was when he ran 8:34 in high school, and even 3:56 for the mile to break the world junior record at 19. it's doubtful he would've the USA team that year, nevermind made the worlds final. and german was legendary.
that's how good cain is.
Going with unrealistic. But aren't you concerned that you are dreaming about a 17 year old girl?
I can't see how she can medal with the way she's running tactically. She's hanging at the back and trying to pick a few people off in the home straight.
She needs to be at least 5th/6th with 200 to go. She hasn't really mixed it with them yet.

Ha ha!
Didn't President Reagan tell someone something about his "youth and inexperience"?
I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. The depth on the men's side is much greater and once you're in the heats, anything can happen in these tactical races.

Not particularly. I'm under 20 years old.
