Lopez Lomong is out of the 5000m. With Derrick, Huling, See, Jager, Ritz and likely Leer of 5000m that leaves us with 11 likely starters.
Another story of note is it rained last night and there is some cloud cover so it's much cooler on the track.
And on the political front, Wisconsin coach Mick Bryne with his athlete Maverick Darling and Texas athlete Joe Stilin held an impromptu press conference to express their displeasure at not being allowed in the 5000m despite so many athletes scratching.
No explanation has come forth from USATF and Mick was given the impression if there were scratches more athletes would be added to the field.
Video with Mick below:
Some highlights: "USA Track and field are taking away their opportunity to compete. They know they have confirmed scratches.
They have six confirmed scratches right now, they told me they have none. Someone in USA Track and Field is not doing their job, it's that simple."
