I saw Manzano in the lobby and was like, "What the hell is he doing here?" I asked three meet volunteers and they didn't know. FInally pulled up an updated start list and it looks like he's been added to the 800 field along with a slew of others:
ATHLETE DATE OF BIRTH NATION PB SB
ANDREWS Robby 3/29/1991 USA 01:44.7 01:48.2
BRANNEN Nathan 9/8/1982 CAN 01:46.0
KITUM Timothy 11/20/1994 KEN 01:42.5 01:46.5
LALANG Boaz Kiplagat 2/8/1989 KEN 01:43.0 01:48.4
MANZANO Leonel 9/12/1984 USA 01:44.6
MULAUDZI Mbulaeni 9/8/1980 RSA 01:42.9
OSAGIE Andrew 2/19/1988 GBR 01:43.8 01:45.4
RUDISHA David 12/17/1988 KEN 01:40.9 01:43.9
RUTT Michael 10/28/1987 USA 01:45.1 01:45.1
SCHERER Matthew 11/21/1983 USA 01:46.1
SOWINSKI Erik 12/21/1989 USA 01:45.9 01:46.1
Contrast that to what was up earlier in the week.
predictions now? scherer will probably run 49.8-50.5 and i bet rudisha will be on him. he tried out his "hang back" tactic and now he probably wants to go back to leading from the gun.
i'd like to say that leo has a chance for top 3, but i don't see it happening now. andrews will kick too late and be a couple seconds behind rudisha.
i REALLY hope sowinski does well in this race. his PR is weak, and i bet he could run 1:45low
I'm usually the one to lobby run for place not time-let the race dictate the time...
but businesswise Sowinski does need a shorter PR on the resume.
As a fan of this young man a good honest race would please me. One with a good placing more so but race conditions permitting a run at a sub 1:45 is needed with 1:45low a fine result if he comes up a little short.
I predict that Scherer will do use usual and blast ou to the front thinking he is Charles Jock but will fade a little after a quarter and will probably drop out after the first guy passes him. He is the Craig of the 800m- when did the guy last finish a race.
In all seriousness what would happen if Jock was in a race with a pacer? Would there be a battle for the front and they come through in 47?
Most elites won't talk to the Brojo's. When they do it is in the mixed zone and the elites are talking with ALL the reporters at one time.
|Really Rojo really|
And you guys claim to be running journalist???? He's only been posting on twitter about it for a couple days now.
Also why not ask him. Too afraid?
The revised list was up as early as Tuesday I believe and the Willis dropping out was news on this message board earlier this week
Based on the condition, i'd say good. Everybody else seems to have run 3-4 seconds off their PRs, so Leo's performance was right in line with that.
