Well, actually, yes. That is how it works. I am completely in charge of what they mean. But I am not completely in charge of how they will be interpreted.
You're taking my statement out of context. There is an entire sentence afterwards. Not a private sentence. A public sentence. And it was meant to indicate that there must have been something special about the race (a big early gap or a large kick at the end) in order to beat them field so much at a time that doesn't seem so fast for pac12 competition.
