Curious to know how most guys have raced the distance. This will be by far my longest race past 10k and I'm not sure how fast to go out or where to pick it up, etc... I'm trying to go sub 80 on may 19th. Should I go out at 6:15 pace for first 3 n start to gradually pick it up till I cant sustain faster pace n go all out the last 5k? All my life I've been a front runner n die at end but I'm a grown man now... lol. I understand that the shape ur in will dictate what u can handle in a race, so here's my background. .. Im 31, started running again in February at 18 mpw and for the last 2 weeks been at 56 mpw, 8 milers at 640 on hard days (80% effort) n 730 on easy days... I havent ran since college but I've maintained good overall shape... didn't run that fast in college cuz of distractions but managed 32 flat for 6 miles freshman yr. 1610 5k from hs senior yr. N a 440 1600 hs sophomore yr. Thats all I got. Thanks. I really need some direction here. Thanks again.
