Let's say you have the Olympic B standard in an event, and a foreign country offers you citizenship so you can run for them in the Olympics. You can stay where you live now (and in your home country, you have pretty much no chance of making it onto the Olympic team) but you have to represent them in the Olympics.
Do you take it? Does it depend on the country?
This is hypothetical, and I am still really far from the B standard, but the reason it came up is that I realized I have dual citizenship (I was born with it even though I have lived in the US for my entire life) and the other country pretty much never sends anyone to represent them in the marathon, so I don't know if they even have women who can run the B standard. I was thinking about what I would do if I could run the B standard. Competing in the Olympics has been my dream since I was eight years old, so I have a feeling I would take it even with a country I feel pretty much no loyalty to, but at the same time that feels kind of dirty and wrong.
