God that makes 3:35.00 look hard. I guess you have to be 10 seconds below 60 pace.
3:35 is about a 3:52 mile, yes?
It always seemed really fast until the 90s.
I was 3 when Herb Elliot ran his WR, but it no doubt seemed pretty fantastic, a few steps ahead of him mile record.
It should be noted that the last 500m was run entirely solo, and there was a decent wind on the back straight too. Pretty solid early season race when you consider that. he should get the qualifier easy in Sydney next week.
Using that formula I talked about on another thread recently, a 3:35.00 = 3:50.695.

That's not a real conversion formula, that's just a straight line. I wish for your sake you were joking.

I'm not sure I believe your formula is all that good. If anything, it would be slightly slower than the expected 3:52 if all things were equal. Why? because another 100 meters would go by before the kick begins which would tend to slow down the effect of that final kick since a little extra energy would have been expended before engaging in it. 3:50.695 is very aggressive for a conversion time.

Are you joking? He's a moron. He just straight lined it as the other poster said. It's not aggressive, it's flat out 100% wrong.
a fine result for this time of year and no one near him. those qualifiers should not have been set to exclude performances from most of last year. willis ran 3:30 last season and still has to chase qualifiers this year?
Shoutout to Beamish and his 3:45 PR!!!!! Not bad for a 3k/5k guy....
