Tip of the iceberg, my friend. And Kenya, as others have observed, is hardly the only African country involved...
banned substances could be anything...probably some
nose spray. Nothing to be upset about.
Who?
A few tokens to appease the testers.
Glad the cheaters got caught. I roomed with Wilson Erupe at the Houston Marathon and was surprised he came out of nowhere to run a 2:05:37 solo.
2:05 guy!!!! This is major!!!!
The east African dominance may soon be broken!!!!
This, new and "tougher" WMM doping penalties and a bunch of no-name 2:04 guys in Tokyo this weekend should make for an interesting outcome.
Elite distance running is like cycling; If we got rid of everyone who uses some sort of performance enhancing substance there would be nobody left. Even relative nobodys like Hesch and Hellebuyck couldn't stop from taking a bite of the poisonous apple.
Tip of the iceberg, my friend. And Oregon, as others have observed, is hardly the only U.S. state involved...
tip of the iceberg my friends
Here is my prediction:
Within 10 years canova will be implicated in a major doping scandal and Kenya's reputation for world dominance in running will be seriously tarnished.
in 10 years we will know whether you are right or not.
if the thread is kept, we can continue.
Next up: Everyone's favourite Kenyan- Bernard Lagat!
Interesting that this is not receiving any kind of play on the LRC home page, that so prominently featured the Lance Armstrong saga. I wonder why?
good catch
The days of trusting every white man as if he is God must come to an end. Any white man who has been to Kenya and attended a cross country or track meet or even visited one of the camps can bear witness how athletes swarm around them like bees! So many doping agents are out there and you can't tell them by their faces. To my friends and I a white man represents an escape route from poverty. And in most cases this has been true. But the bad guys have mingled in since they have no more breathing space in the west due to WADA. AK is totally to blame here for not doing their job which among other things is to educate athletes on these matters. They should have a special unit within it complete with full funding and whose job would be to move from camp to camp to educate athletes on doping matters and listen to listen to their concerns. Banning athletes who have doped is one thing but in my opinion the real work will be done when we arrest the source of these drugs(doping agents). These guys should be locked up and never allowed to see the light of the day again.
sick of this - Kenya is turning out to be one of the dirtiest countries.
It is hard to know who to trust. WADA should immediately invade camps in Kenya and camp for at least 6 months to a year. This doping thing is killing our sport. Those found should pay the price or reveal their masters. What we want it those masters but if they are not willing to give them up then they should be banned for life instead of bringing bad spoiling for everyone else. Canova is a great coach and coaches many athletes in Kenya and Ethiopia and possibly Uganda. He knows alot of people and I believe he should be able to help in investigating what is going on in these camps. We must stop hiding our heads under the blankets and saying everything is ok when the reality is the house is burning!
I heard a rumour that some Kenyan's were going to be busted this wk but assumed it was following the blood test done recently
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
