Centro wants that AR, and we know Rupp's 3:50.9 set a fire in him. What we know about Centro this season is: 1) He felt comfortable in his 3:56 win at Boston 2) He feels the strongest he's ever been 3) He thinks he's still lacking that 'pop' in his legs If the pacing is right, I think Centro could come right around 3:50.0-350.5 at Millrose but I just don't see him getting to 3:49. However, I will call him for the win. #CentroNation |

I'll give him a 3:52 Rupp > Centro |

agreed. Lagat has a very strong record and even Hicham only ran 3:48 indoors. Matt has less thsn two weeks to get ready. He doesn't need 'pop' so much as speed-endurance. |

Perhaps in terms of running a flat out faster mile time. As an overall runner, yes. As a 1500m runner (racer), I do not think so. |

Rupp ran 3:57, then 3:50. Centro ran 3:56, then ___? Another 3:50 is not out of the question. |

I wouldn't be surprised at anything Centro accomplished. I won't be surprised if he runs under 3:50. On the other hand, he had a broken season last year; and one a few years before...he certainly hasn't had the uninterrupted years that Rupp has had. |

No. He will not but he is still one of my favorite runners to watch. |

He's not the type to chase time I don't think, so unless someone else is running for 3:50 I don't think we will see it, though he may very well be fit enough. On a side note, can will leer please shave the ugly stash? It bothers my watching experience :-) and if u want to go around, go around, don't elbow someone because you are frustrated you can't get by them. |

Really going out on a limb there, huh? Centro is The Man. He will ALWAYS win (when healthy and fit). |

I doubt it. Regarless of what Rojo said about "centrowitz putting on a mile running clinic" last week, I still think centro looked heavy legged and 'not himself'. |

although, it would be wise to assume centro had just run 4 miles at 4:50 pace, too, haha. |

You make a good point, but Rupp raced a 3:57 and was near perfectly paced to a 3:50 with no one in the way and no one wanting to slow it. Centro will need the same variables, imo: great pacing by capable pacers and no one in the way to slow it down once the pacers are off the track. Of course, Rupp's pacers took him through ~1209m, so after that point, no one slows it down. |

No one in the way to slow it down once the pacers are off the track? You think he may lap someone? No one's running 4:20 or slower in this race. |

Ummm....ever heard of other racers taking the lead during the race and trying to slow it down? |

I think Centro can get it if he wants to but I think he will just want to race and win. It won't be slow but he will probably run for the win and end up low to mid 3:50s. If he is in good shape a 3:49 should be attainable. |

> 1) He felt comfortable in his 3:56 win at Boston He didn't look all that comfortable coming down the stretch where he was barely able to hold off Leer to win by 0.1s. He's a great racer, but I'm just not sure Centro is in shape to run faster than 3:53 mid on a perfect day. |

No. Not in a rabbitted race, especially sub 3:50 pace. If there are good rabbits that take the pace to 1200m it is simply up to Centro to follow and finish if he wants it. And of course if he is fit enough. |

He does not have a chance in hell of getting the record , not even close. Agreed on the great racer comment , he is not a record runner unless he is super fit and races to a record vs gets paced to record. Boston was not a easy win. |

At this point Rupp is better than Centro at every event 800 - marathon. Deal with it Centro fanboys. |
