Dude is retiring at 39, no? Be good if he kept at it and set new masters records, but I thought he'd be retiring? |

7:34 at any age is insane, but at 38 years old? Ridiculous |

The huge margin of victory is stunning. What a great run. According to TFN's list, this would be the 5th best 3000 mark (or equivalent from 2 miles) in US history. 7:32.43 Bernard Lagat (Nike) 02/17/07 7:33.45+ Galen Rupp (Nike) 02/11/12 7:33.77+ ——Lagat 02/12/11 7:34.65 ——Lagat 02/21/08 7:34.71 ——Lagat 02/02/2013 TFN's indoor list is here: http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/tafn-lists?list_id=14&sex_id=M&yyear=2008 In terms of our "What about the sport?", theme can someone tell me why isn't he running in Boston on ESPN tongiht against Rupp? |

They both run for Nike. They could both be building interest for a future head-to-head meeting. Works to Nike's advantage, as well as Lagat's and Rupp's. |

Probably has to do with appearance fees. Boston got some studs and probably had no money left for Lagat. The bigger question is why won't Galen be defending his 2 mile record at Millrose? |
| Ho Hum |

Well he owns a home in Germany, so maybe he was out there anyway? It'd make sense to race in Germany rather than making a trans-Atlantic flight if he was already over there. |

Rojo Stop with your haterism! Bernard Lagat is the bigger name in track and field, the question should be why isn't Galen Rupp racing against Bernard Lagat and a much tougher field overseas? GET IT RIGHT! |

Are you high bro? |

Are you disagreeing that Bernard Lagat is a bigger name in track and field then Galen Rupp? If you are then you are definitely high! |

Post race comment by Lagat: Yes, I was suprised when I was in the lead all by myself! Usually, I'm the one chasing the leaders, that's how I race. But I did notice Augustine Choge was slowing down a little bit. For my indoor season, I had set two goals: To run a PR in Karlsruhe - which I unfortunately didn't manage to do - but I tried my best and I'm very pleased nevertheless. And I want to break the 2 mile AR on February 16 in New York City, That's my focus right now. http://leichtathletik.de/index.php?NavID=1&SiteID=28&NewsID=41936 |
