Yes, the meet is very competitive this year because of the recently changed banked track conversions for D3
you mean average schools can't get a bump from running at BU and then get waxed at nats? thank god
From what I remember the DIII schools who used BU/Armory did very well at nationals in the DMR. One (Bowdoin) even won the whole thing if I recall correctly.

I thought the new banked conversions were adopted by the entire NCAA, not just DIII?
D1 doesn't use conversions because they run all their meets on banked tracks. D3 needs to start holding NCAAs on banked tracks. It makes no sense to hold what ought to be the best meet of the season on a slow track.
What was all the fuss this fall about then, with the new conversions affecting nationals qualifiers? I remember T&F News articles on this, about the process of drawing up the new conversion factors. This had more to do with oversize flat tracks then banked/not banked, but I thought it was all part of the same NCAA change?
if you have to ask that this probably isn't the forum to read

Before the Terrier Invitational you wouldn't have found any evidence that he could pull a 1:53. After that breakthrough I expect he's on a level far higher than his previous times. I dunno what level that is, though...

that's one year. look back five, ten years and you'll see a pattern of schools like brandeis, nyu, williams, etc. crapping themselves up and down.

Thanks for the uninformed post of the day. D1 does use conversions...all 3 divisions use the new conversion metric. D1 times are indexed to 200m banked tracks since that's what the national championships are held. So if you race on a banked track..your time will not get changed, if you race on a flat 200 or a 300m+ track, your time will get converted up or down. Shocking as it may seem...not ALL d1 teams run ALL their meets on 200m banked tracks.
Results??

QFT. I would have used "misinformed," but you're right and I was wrong.
I understand what the aim of the conversion standards is - to level the playing field - I just think penalizing D3 for running fast times on fast tracks isn't the way to go about it. Most regular season meets are certainly run on flat tracks for D3 in New England, however with many championship season meets (Open New England, ECACs) on banked tracks it seems the penalty will come hardest when athletes are in the best shape. I suppose the only answer is that a meet like D3 ECAC should be moved to a flat track permanently so athletes may continue to get fast flat track qualifying times.
so, results...? the meet was held today, no?
it was cancelled again
