So I just had a light surgery and got stitches on my cheek. I was advised to not shower for 48 hrs and so I did not do so. I don't want it to scar and if it does I don't want it to be noticeable so I am thinking of not running until I get my stitches removed in a few days. I am an NCAA d 1 xc/track athlete at a top 50 uni and kind of hesitant of skipping a week of mileage. Do you think running and showering after with stitches will increase the chances of scarring?

Put some cloth on it then duct tape it over. Then you\'re good to go

Unless you are a woman, a facial scar will give you some character.

ESPECIALLY if you are a woman.

I had 8 stitches in my eyebrow and was able to run just fine. I do have a scar though; not sure it would have mattered either way.

I know you can do it because my girlfriend runs when she's on her period.
