Recommend me a high mileage training show with a low heel-to-drop. I've been liking the 4mm range. I've tried the Pure Flow but I'm looking for something different...maybe a bit more responsive. Kinvara? NB MR10? Newton? Thanks for the help.

I highly recommend Altras. I coach some HS kids & we all began exprimenting with minimalist shoes about a year ago. We've all worn Newtons, NB, Saucony, etc. minimalist shoes, but we're all running in Altras now...
Saucony Cortana - 4mm heel drop, high cushioned shoe, slight touch of stability. Very comfortable, very light. Excellent shoe all around. Highly recommended.
I've done multiple 100+ mile weeks on the Adidas Adios 2. Good shoe.
Good for you... but it doesn't answer the OP's question The Adios 2 has a medium-large heel-toe drop (10 mm).

Altras are not minimalist.
Lesson for ya: just because a shoe has a low heel to toe ratio DOES NOT MEAN it's minimalist!
Altras have a TON of cushioning.
That's true but the OP didn't ask about minimalist shoes

He didn't ask about shoes at all. This thread is about shows.
I can recommend that you go back to Primary School and learn to write a sentence, then learn to proof read your subject line.
I like the Kinvara 3...you can't go wrong with that.
Another shoe that I've been wanting to try (but haven't yet) is the new Karhu Flow3 Trainer, though I think it might be 8mm drop.
Kinvara 3 is a terrible show. I wouldn't ever watch it.

Never tried an Altra. How would they compare to a Kinvara or my current training / race shoe, the Pure Flow? Are you guys wearing the 'Instinct' for road training?
You can run as much mileage as you want. It doesn't matter if you're mid-foot, heal striker, or the rare forefoot runner.
Check out this from BYU. They have slow-mo camera footage from the Olympic Trials 10k. Look at how many heal strike and mid foot strike.
oh, ok. Simmer down there, barefoot Ted the minimalist purist..

that's wonderful and has nothing to do with what i'm talking about.
which was correcting a poster who said altras were minimal. read much?
just go find a decent running shoe store and get some advice and get fit dude
I have been to my local store (which is small) and they recommend Newtons. I'm not sold on Newtons, especially running high mileage. My local store doesn't have a large selection either so I am curious to see what is out there and see what some of my options are.
Thanks for all the help so far guys. I'm thinking maybe Kinvara or Cortana at the moment. I haven't heard any favorable opinions of the NB MR10 and I'm not sure about the Altra (though I may see if I can find some place to try it on just to see how it feels). I don't even know if Asics or Adidas makes any shoes in this 4mm range. So maybe the Sauconys are my best bet...

His post seems to be implying that Altras are not minimal, which is in contrast to the minimalist shoes that he and his runners did try. Critical read much?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
