Payton sat out a year. DQ by operation of law. What did he come back from, sitting on the couch eating Cheetos and downing purple drank?
AP wins both CBPOY and MVP. Give him his due!

Who is Payton Manning? There is no way that guy should be comeback player of the year, I've never even heard of him.
Manning did have that neck surgery where they had to fuse his head back to his spinal column so it would stay attached.
Peterson just had a minor acl tear like millions every year come back from.
Do you mean AD? It's okay pretty much everyone get's his nic name wrong. I think he may have just relented and allowed AP to be another nic name. Through HS and College his nic name was AD (short for All Day) but everyone who heard about him but didn't know anything about him started calling him AP (short for Adrian Peterson) not realizing their mistake.
I know cool story right?
So the OP got both names wrong? I do see the point on sitting out for a year though, not same type of comeback due to the lay off.

If millions each year do then can you please provide me one example of an athlete who tore his acl, came back the following season, and performed at this high of a level. Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert both tore their ACLs in the NBA playoffs last year and neither one has played a game this season.

Fair enough, but the Broncos were already a playoff team, whereas, the Vikings are only there because of Peterson. Peterson deserves the MVP, even as they will lose at GB this coming weekend.
Also, while Manning had more passing yards this season and a higher completion percentage than Rodgers, his rating wasn't as good, so it should be between Peterson and Rodgers. Watts no longer belongs in the conversation. Houston is all but done.
This is about the Comback Player of the Year, not MVP. I think you have the topics confused.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwVQiGHfUJgI think Petersen is going to get MVP, though you can make a great argument for Manning. Yes, the Broncos were already a playoff team last year, but last year the Denver Broncos were #31 in total offense, this year they are #2. Last year they were averaging 19.2 points per game, this year they are averaging 30.1 points per game. As for comeback player of the year, they obviously both have the same arguments, but Manning is coming back from FOUR surgeries that cost him an entire season.
I call Petersen for MVP and Manning for Comeback Player of the Year.

I don't know why you are babbling all those stats at me. I do know 2 things.
1. I rarely watch football
2. When I do, I can clearly see it is even more fixed than
the NBA at keeping games close so they make more money.

First, there is no way there could be anyone EVER perform at the level Peterson did this year after a torn acl because there was only one other person in the history of the NFL dating back to the days before the Canton Bulldogs played the Larue Oorang Indians with the "past his prime" Jim Thorpe and that was Eric Dickerson who did NOT have an acl tear the previous year he set the existing rushing record (even though he didn't gain as many yards per game as O.J. Simpson did when he ran for 2,003 yards in 14 games after a season in which he also didn't have a torn acl).
As far as coming back from an acl and playing at a level an athlete played at before the injury, I will stand by my statement made initially. This article estimates 150k acl repairs just in the U.S. alone.

I am sure doctors in many other countries in the world are capable of performing that surgery.
This article states 96-98% return to sport.

Actually, the Vikings were already a playoff team when ADP was there. (went to the NFC championships with Favre). Then they sucked for a couple of years and then made the playoffs this year again.
Denver added Manning this year and got the #1 seed. The improvement from adding PM is more obvious here.

This years Denver team is guaranteed a 2nd round game. Last years team also made it to the 2nd round. Time will tell if this version is better than last years.
I'm sure Peyton would love to see that defense that New England threw at Tebow. A healthy Peyton Manning on a team that actually has a defense is almost not fair. I'm sure the NFL is figuring that out, if they haven't figured it out already. And while we're talking MVPs, the real MVP might be the Exec VP who took the risk to get rid of a cult favorite and replace him with a guy who was released by his prior team and had TWO surgeries: John Elway.
I think Peyton is going to win the award that most people care about: MVP or the Super Bowl.
Peterson played 15 games last year, how can he be come back player of the year?

Elway is certainly in the running for Executive of the Year, but it will probably go to John Schneider in Seattle. Grigson in Indy could get it as well. Schneider and Carroll gutted Seattle three years ago and built it from the ground up through drafting, bringing in players from the CFL, and trades.
Grigson blew up a 2 win team, cut tons of fan favorites, found a better coaching staff, and turned it into an 11 win team in one year -- and that ain't all Andrew Luck. Luck's been bailed out of many turnovers by a stout defense. I'd give the award to Grigson for a remarkable turnaround in one year.
Elway? No way.

There's some sort of urban legend out there that the Colts couldn't play defense during Manning's years, despite evidence to the contrary. Colts had a top-10 scoring defense five of Manning's 12 years: 2002 (7), 2005 (2), 2007 (1), 2008 (7), 2009 (8). Top 15 a few other years.
The year they won the Super Bowl, their scoring defense ranked 23rd.
Ultimately, despite having a top-10 defense many years, the Colts exited the playoffs early. And most of those games were first round losses by less than 6 points when the defense allowed 20 points or less. Funny how that works.
