I'm considering getting an MS in ecology from a small school in my state mainly for personal rather than professional reasons. However, I know that 90% or more of people out there, even within academia, have probably never even heard of the school, so I'm a bit hesitant to do this when I could probably go to a big a name university elsewhere. Are graduate degrees from directional schools stigmatized?
