German Fernandez is entered into the 1500 at Berlin. See here:

He's the only American in the race, and has one of the slower qualifying times, so it will interesting to see what he can do.

He went from 3:39 to 3:37 in one day. He was getting into shape then.
He looks very fit now.
It will great if he can get down to the 3:35 to 3:34 range.

One day meaning the next day. And 3:39 to 3:37 is 2 seconds not 3.
It should be a pretty fast pace with Ndiku and Choge who aren't afraid to lead and make it an honest race. Should be a bunch of guys in the 3:33-3:35 range so there is a good chance he gets dragged along to 3:35 or so.

Can someone post the startlist/date of the race.
My computer won't lemme download cause it's saying the link contains viruses.

The document is a PDF. It doesn't cut and paste. Turn your antivirus off for a minute and visit the page.

looks like the date of the race is september 2nd, 2012.
With the impressive performances German has had, and considering his innate talent, I predict an unexpected 3:29:97 victory, catipulting him into the ranks of the truly elite. It's likely to be stunning to see.

I'd love to see that, but that's gonna be a little difficult with an 800m PB of just 1:52.

3:34 or 3:35 would be great, impressive! 3:29 would be silly as Mr. Dingleton intended.
It is too bad a guy like Leer, Heath, Bayer, would never get into a race like this and German does. I am happy for him, but how frustrating to always need the standard but can't get into the races where standards are run again and again.
German has right connection and agent.
People want to watch German run, he's a polarizing figure. Those other guys are not. This is the world we live in.

That's Lord Dingleton to you, sir.

Certainly these other guys should and will get opportunities to run fast races (Oxy, Payton Jordan), but it's not just because German has the right connection and agent that he's getting more chances. It's because he has the talent to do things that these other guys will never do. He has the talent to be the greatest American distance runner of his generation. We'll see if coaching at the professional level can help him avoid the injuries that would stymie his career, and allow him to achieve his potential.
