It doesn't mean sh*t. Not one person would have picked Jelian last year in the 10 but guess what, he won. The race that matters is in August, not July. Yes, Rupp has a tough road to medal, hell gold is a HUGGGEEE stretch. But everyone knew that, you can be damn sure he did. The race today changes nothing.

True
didn't he just beat some of these guys
some aren't on their teams
it was a fast race Rupp would have been in it
the olympics is the best chance for rupp because you only face a few africans intstead of the revolving army of the currently super fit.
Olympic 5k is very tactical so it doesn't mean much. If Rupp makes it to the final he'll shadow someone fast and rely on his kick.
1) Olympic 5000 won't be under 12:05 at the bell.
2) Rupp is better in the 10000.
3) Gold in either event is very difficult. For anyone.
Gebremeskel's been pretty consistently swift, indoors and out. And the next guy is allegedly a "junior."
We discuss how this effect's Rupp in our recap:
It means the WR is going down as Galen crushes the final 400 closing in 51.4, crossing the finish line flashing gang signs as the clock reads 12:36.88
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
