Puma Soft, c.1976-7. Bright yellow with canvas uppers and a black sort of felt Puma marking on it. Incredibly featureless and basic compared to anything now.

I found a pair of Brooks Conquest from the mid-80s in a store in Wise, VA in the mid 2000s. The glue was all yellow. If they had been my size I would have bought them.
I also found a pair of Nike American Eagles in a thrift store in Des Moines, IA a few years ago. They were rather worn.

The first running I still remember using is was the Saucony Freedom Trainer in about 1982. It's still the best shoe I ever had! I wish I could get my hands on a pair today.

I still remember the Tiger Jayhawk XR I used for XC.

The Internationalist and others had a few versions. The 'blue shoe' that was early 80's and only around for 1 year may have been the Bermuda. Mesh front toe box, snug fit. I remember running in the Internationalist then actually buying 4-5 pair EACH of the Terra T/C and Zoom Elite...the royal blue with yellow Swoosh. I remember stocking up on these 2 shoes and getting them for about $220 for like 9-10 pair of shoes from a 1-800 warehouse in the back of RunnersWorld mag. Now $220 will get you 2 pair of shoes...and thats if you get a 15% discount.
Bermuda, that was it. I had a pair or two of the Zoom Elites as well. I can still remember getting my first pair of Eagle flats ('80?). Awesome racing shoe.
Well I had a pair of Thom Mccan's that were blk yellow and white. My first real pair were some Nike's with a gum bottom sole and blue nylon uppers, white swoosh. My first real, real running show was the Saucony Jazz, got them in the fall of 1981.

NIKE Kenya Red-1972. Frickin a doodle, I wish I still had them. Switched to Adidas SL72's for a couple years, then back to NIKE's when the Waffle Trainer/LDV came out and been with them pretty much since. Still have a pair of Tailwinds sitting in a box, SMU Elite's(Baby Blue/Hot Pick swoosh) and prototype steeplechase shoe.
Is this the Tailwind you have? I got a pair in the Fall of 1979 & that is still one of my all-time favorites. I believe it is the first Nike to use an air sole.

American Eagle was the best racing flat Nike ever made.
Starting in 1975: Tiger Corsair - Tiger Munich - Tiger Montreal - Brooks America - Nike Waffle Trainers.
Wow. I'm getting old!
The second pair of spikes I owned (1974) was the adidas "racer', a black kangaroo skin shoe (that was great leather, strong and light) with pink stripes. See the pic with Mike Boit 72 800m.

You think? I believe Puma just came out w/a similar shoe recently...the Puma FAAS 300 w/canvas uppers? Granted, the colors are more appealing...
Brooks Villanova, 80's
Adidas Antelope. I tried New Balance Trackster and the II. Waffle Sole and red saddle shoe design. That was 1966. Also tried the Blue Ribbon Sports marathon for racing and theit training shoes. Good stuff in 1967-68
1985 Nike Air Pegasus. Next year was Nike Terra. Never left Nike.
Actually, Terra Trainers. I had to go back through all the posts. I saw Terra TC, and I knew they weren't TCs. When I saw the pic, old memories flooded back!http://www.arkamix.com/vintage-nike/running/nike-terra-trainer-1980-s
That was mine too! Spring of '79 - green with bright green stripes and they got so darn heavy in the rain, which we had plenty of in East Texas. Think my father paid ~ $20 for them. I ran in them until I outgrew them a few years later.
