Meanwhile the Africans are training.
Wejo, it's a shame the stars of American distance running can't produce legitimate information regarding their status and training.
They want to be treated like stars from other sports, but don't want to keep the fans updated or interested, instead we get these comedy/non-running related videos.
Instead of getting something worthwhile, we watch an Olympian and an Olympic hopeful have a snowball fight.
Wah wah boo hoo
Get off your butt and go train to beat them then lardbutt. Till then, keep your trap shut.

I would suggest that the video provides ample evidence that Mr. Wheating's hamstring is update.
I would also suggest that "the stars of American distance running" do not "owe" us anything of the sort you desire.
It is nice when we get it. If we don't get it, are we really any worse off?

What's your expectation and how do you expect it to be enforced?
I agree the stars need to do a better job of keeping the public updated and interested.
However I think this video was an excellent job to keep us updated and interested. Wheating looks healthy if he's screwing around like that. I've got a better understanding of him as an individual and Russell Brown too and I'll be rooting for them both.
Most people just want the basics, whether Wheating is healthy and training again, what races he'll be doing, etc. The athletes and agents do need to do a better job with that. However, I think most people would rather see that video than anything else as it gives insight into the person.
I do agree with you that athletes and agents can help keeping the fans aware of the basics. As for the basics, take Shalane Flanagan and the Lisbon half. I follow the sport pretty closely and I had no idea that she was running until Friday. When I found out we did a preview of the race. The agents could argue its letsrun responsibility to find all this information out. Since we're the biggest website that covers the sport of pro running in the US day to day, I'd say its advantageous to tip us off on some things. Usually the race would want to get the word out and I'm a bit surprised with competitor group owning it they didn't get the word out. They had nothing on their website about it before the race.
I looked at Shalane's website and the last update was in 2011. She should at least put her twitter feeds on there. As she did tweet March 20th she was going to Lisbon.
Shalane's website not withstanding, what's the answer? Either she was a tentative yes up until she had some recent workout where she and her crew committed 100% (maybe on March 19 or 20) or she had been a solid yes for a while, but her group respects that the organizers are going to handle their media related to their event as they see fit.

Which elite runners have told you that they would like to be treated like stars from other sports? Or are you just assuming/making shit up about preferences and desires of people you don't know?
It was common knowledge a month ago that Shalane was doing Lisbon. Karate mentioned it in an interview; I believe with Runner;s World.
It was mentioned by Kara in an RW interview
looks like a good way to screw up a knee.
I think the website and videos are great. I would much rather see this than ESPN interviews and updates ad infinitu as we see in other sports. And quit worrying about "good way to screw up a knee." You sound like some control freak track or soccer mom who makes their kids sit in a chair and sip juicy boxes all day under the tent at a track meet or soccer tournament while their friends, who are better than you anyway are goofing around having fun together.
I agree. I would like to see what's a day into the training like for the OTC Elite runners instead of this sillyness. Yes, it's funny, but it has been done before.
I thought they both looked a bit gay
I'll give it to them. It was funny. I laughed a few times.

Agreed. Wheating is rough housing in the damn snow?! Is he serious? He could easily get hurt.
All I have to say is Centro could not be found dead doing those stupid things. He is a serious athlete and takes himself seriously despite the funny persona and the centro nation thing. Damn, centros Dad wouldn't allow it even if centro was stupid enough to risk his running career by rough housing in the snow.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
