Umm. What?

So in head to head marathons that is Meb 2 - Hall 0
Desi now back to the lead, Flanagan right on here and Goucher only 10 meters back.
Great battle here.

Yeah but Hall is a 2:04 Marathoner. Much better than Meb.
Actually, this result shows what Hall is really good for. (ie sure as sh!t not 2:04)

Um what the hell are you talking about?
Meb beat Hall in NYC and the trials today. Hall beat Meb at the trials in 07 and Boston in 2010
They are 2-2
...Unless Boston and the trials in 07 don't count as "head to head marathons?"
Meb "To be on my 3rd Olympic team is all I've dreamed about."
Hall on fast early pace: "I was feeling good. You never know what is possible on the day."
Abdi: "The crowd was so great I did not want to disappoint them. I just wanted to be on the team with these three great guys."

If his 2:04:58 wasn't real how do you explain Mutai and Mosop running consistent times after Boston?
Even a freshman sociology student would be befuddled with your logical leap.

Yeah, how about 2-2
Meb NYC 2009, Trials 2012
Hall Trials 2007, Boston 2010

You are correct. I was thinking Olympics, but totally forgot Rotterdam the year after Jones set the record in Chicago. All this Oly Trials has me off my game.
Now worries, I've probably posted at least three wrong things in this thread, but in the tsunami of posts, no one'll notice.
I remember Jonesy trying to get his record back at Chicago in '85, going out in some crazy pace for the half and missing it by a second. Why, back then, they even put marathons on TV! The whole race!
I have a new found love for this Black Cactus fellow.
People talking about a "fake" 2:04 are idiots. There isn't much more to be said on that subject.
Top 10?
have the lead women run into any stragglers from the mens race?
Are people really trying to argue that Hall is better than Meb? Meb has an Olympic medal and a NYC title, during the same general era. It's not even close.
GO Desi!!!

So your marathon PR must be from St. George?
One thing for sure, Hall, Meb and Abdi have proven they are bigtime gamers when it comes to the Olympic Trials.
Anyone remember how Abdi just spanked everyone over the last lap of the 2008 10k trials? Wouldn't that be something if he runs the 10k again this year?
Mile 24 Flanagan in lead and looks at her watch. Davila 2 steps behind. Goucher still hanging about 10 meters back.
Great race. Goucher is hanging tough having been 10 meters back for a few miles.
This is going to be your top 3 barring disaster.

But they keep clinging to that "2:04" as the proof.
