Let's use this thread for updates. Perfect weather for the race. Cool and calm.
Just saw Merhawi Keflezighi (Meb's brother). He was nervous but said Meb is ready and healthy and the time off after NYC may have helped him.
Merhawi also had Meb's Breathe Right strip in his hand (at NYC Meb left the strip in his shoes and it caused blisters).
Men on the start.

The men are off. Ryan Hall to the front with Meb immediately.

-
play by play means you have to type constantly and give us updates. Not wait for each mile split.
-
Thanks Wejo, this is driving me crazy. I want to watch.
-
4:50 first mile. Ryan Hall a few meters in lead. Abdi, Dathan trialing him. This thing is spread out. Hall now 5 meters ahead. Trafeh, Abdi up there.
-
From Flotrack's Twitter:
hall, meb, abdi, ritz, olinger, trafeh already breaking away in first 3 mins -
Hall's not screwing around. Right up front 4:51 first mile. Ritz, Meb, Trafeh behind him.
-
Im here at 4 miles. Beautiful day out.
-
Not saying that it will ultimately matter, but Hall is stupid.
-
Standing a bit past mile 1, Hall with a 1-2 second lead out in front by himself.
-

People posting stuff,
Please realize weldon is watching a live telecast of this. It seems like many people are posting the same thing -
I'm surprised no one is using the Ustream app for a Droid or Iphone. Cheap, live streaming.
-
No, he is going to make it an honest race.
-
houston2012.com is posting live updates on the splits for the entire field, so you can check on everyone's exact progress there.
-
Joseph Chirlee of US Army is up there. As is Brian Olinger in his marathon debut. Hall has dropped his hat.
33 degrees at start.
Hall leading, Trafeh right behind him, then Meb, Ritz, Abdi, Chirlee, and Olinger are clear of everyone. -
4:51 2nd mile
9:41 at 2 miles
