byzantines. all energy into gathering resources. research and advance. then build an army. encircle the enemy. build castles/keeps along the border. slowly squeeze inward using 6 trebuchets and about 50 archers
That's like asking what's best in rock, paper, scissors. Each civiliazation has units which directly counter the others, or have strategies that you can play into very well.
I will, however, second the Byzantine strategy of build up strength, be patient, and slowly crowd your opponent.
strategically, the Britons longbowmen are really effective if you use them in coordination with trebuchets... set up some trebuchets and assign a ton of longbows to guard them. the longbowmen have a long enough range and fast enough rate of fire that it's nearly impossible for the trebuchets to be attacked by melee or ranged (non-trebuchet) units.
for fun, i've always enjoyed the aztecs and the japanese... jaguar warriors and samurai are so sweet
Turks FTW. Get 25 villagers, Feudal age, 30 villagers and walls, basic military, castle age. 80 knights/cavaliers, 40 janassaries, a few bombard cannons then imperial and assault. Glad this thread exists
koreans before the nerf
Spanish. Conquistadors have high attack power and more health than janissaries. They have super villagers too (when advanced). This allows you to build up recources and defences without spending too much on defensive units (because the villagers are good enough).
God d**m what a great f**k**g game that was!
Saracens mofo.
The Celts.
Woad Raiders...
If the map is land based the Britons are definitely the best. If you get 15+ longbowmen its easy to defend. Plus, they are very cheap to make. Load up on light calvary (80 food, 0 gold) to distract the enemy while the archers pick everyone off.
Problem with the byzantines is the calvary cost too much and its tough to defend walls without strong archers.
If the map is water based (islands, oceans, etc.) then the vikings are by far superior. a group of 10+ viking ships are impossible to beat.
I remember that game, it was great. I am going to have to go out and buy it again.
I liked the Teutons. With the castles additional range. Also liked the Spanish with the2x gold for trading.
Spanish were in the expansion pack, but I will let that slide. The Spaniard's most underrated advantage was that their villagers could upgrade to wreck buildings. Man what a good game.
rush it with the Britons.
Get a castle as fast as possible and destroy your enemies one at a time wit an army of longbowmen.
Just wondering. Doesn't this thread give the best answer as to why East Africans are so superior in distance running?

You're right. The best strategy is probably to go with the Ethiopian civilization and flood the market with coffee beans and qat. Use your warriors to run away from opponents while holding onto the sacred Ark of the Covenant.
hahaha thank you that made my day
anybody here play online?
gameranger?
the game is like 10 bucks at target.
If your playing the expansion its definitely the Huns because you do not have to build houses! I play deathmatch and usually hit feudal age n 3 minutes or less and already have 50+ man at arms tattacking you. I play 2 vs 6 on hardest against the computer and I kill 2 before they can even reach the castle age the Huns are over powered especially on black forest damn they are boss!

Yep. Range kills.
Finally a serious post on Letsrun. They re-released it on HD on steam recently too, btw.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
