Flanagan won in 1:09:58. Goucher second in 1:12:59, Uhl 3rd in 1:15 and change. The competitor website has results under the leaderboard in the participant tracking. Men was Simon Bairu in 1:05 and change.
yes
Brent Vaughn was second, 3 seconds behind Bairu and Tim Nelson was third, another 2 minutes behind Vaughn.
Seems as if Vaughn is tuning up nicely for the trials with this and his San Antonio finish a month ago.
Link??

Thanks for the updates. Sounds like Vaughn and Flanagan are primed and ready to go.
I think Kara said she was tired and training through. REady excuse or . . .
Vaughn ran 1:05, three minutes slower than he's run before: "primed and ready to go?" I'm sure, however, that the whole group trained through this, it was quite warm, and the goal was to run at something like marathon pace.
Photos of the race can be found at:

Conditions weren't poor but they weren't ideal, either. The winds out of the east were pretty stiff. This helped on the route westbound but made that direction feel HOT. Running eastbound felt cooler but the wind was significant.
I think the marathon trials are wide open. It will be interesting to see if Vaughn could sneak a spot on the team, but, if not, it gives him a great base from which to train for the 10,000 (given his cross country performance). Seems like guys like Vaughn and Ritz are set up to train more like marathoners with long threshold running to ward off injury, then do a short sharpening period to get into "track shape." I really hope Vaughn makes an Olympic team.
I laugh when people go to MIAMI and complain about the humidity. What did you think it was going to be? Its frickin MIAMI.

They were all training through. Flanagan running sub 1:10 after 120 mile weeks bodes very well for her next month. I would say she is a lock. Goucher, not the greatest day but decent.

I laugh when people can't comprehend the difference between WIND and HUMIDITY.
Kara will need to run a faster pace than she ran today to make the team. Shalane (and Jerry) are doing a good job of making sure that she knows what it feels like to go out at sub 1:10. That will be important in London.
where were the africans? if runners like k. goucher and flanagan were there there had to be money, and it is unheard of in money road races for no africans to show up, even if they werent invited they would buy their own (or their friends would pool there money together to get them there) plane ticket, hotel and entry fee (example duncan kibet in san jose half marathon) flanagan would have won anyways unless the really top level woman showed up, but the other woman and the mens race they would have dominated, i mean 1:05 for the men to win 1:07 for 3rd, and 1:12 for 2nd and 1:15 for 3rd, how many african runners are kicking themselves for not going and getting the easy money in what would be a tempo run effort.

Races are starting to pay appearance fees instead of prize money to keep the Africans away and ensure an American wins, which generates more media buzz.
Goucher will be helped by two to three more weeks of hard training, and then she will be doubly helped by the taper. Flanagan looks like an animal--all muscle and sinew. By my lights I still see those two and Desi making the team.

I agree. If Desi or Flanagan don't make the team I would be shocked. Kara should make the team but it wouldn't surprise me all that much if she didn't.
What happened to Jeff Jonaitis? Is he still running the trials?
I'm thinking that the 7th place woman, Jackie Stiles, used to be a star basketball player for SW Missouri State and the WNBA. Not bad.
Great catch!!
What's below is from her website, but I'd also look carefully at the photo album--she's beautiful:
http://jstilesonline.com/about/photo-gallery/personal-photos/
Jacqueline Marie Stiles was born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 21,1978 to parents Pat and Pam Stiles and is the oldest of four children. Jackie grew up in Claflin Kansas and attended Claflin High School.
Jackie’s athletic accomplishments are numerous and diverse but she is known best for her endeavors on the basketball court. As a junior in high school she scored 61 points in 17 minutes of the opening game of the season. By the end of her senior year she becomes the leading scorer for boys and girls in Kansas High School history. Jackie is the state record holder with 71 points in one game. During her four years of high school she won a state record 14 gold medals in track, including the first to win the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 meters in one day. She placed in the top three in state cross country all four years. This well rounded athlete also played tennis for the Claflin Wildcats and placed 2nd in state all three seasons.
