Way to represent the USA!
Nice run, especially for altitude.
A dominating victory for Sara Marie! At least someone in the family isn't content with 5th place finishes.
Hot. Just plain hot.

You make it sound like this is a regular occurrence. I can't think of any other races she won in the past 5 years.
It's about time an American represented!!! All the failures, from Acosta to Leer, the near miss by Strang and Vail. The 800m men. About time.
... and the 4x100 appears to have completed the relay without a dropped baton.

Just off the top of my head, in the last year she won the US Road Mile championship and the indoor 3000m championship.
Anyway, congrats for a nice run by a consistently solid runner. It's good to see a medal performance at the Pan Am's by someone from the US team.
Way to represent. Are you serious???? 10:03 was the winning time. What a joke. She won by default. No one else showed up. I can't believe 10:03 was even top ten let alone gold. Good grief.

I hope you're kidding.

1. Altitude
2. Heat
3. US Men couldn't crack the medals in the 1500 or 5k and winning time was 3:53 and 14:13. 10k was 29:00 (won by Dos Santos of all people--just goes to show that OTHER RUNNERS aren't "too good" for the Pan Am games) and likewise, no American medals.
I don't even know who's on the US men's steeple, but it's probably not anyone from Daegu, so I'll be floored if they finish in the top HALF of the field. Over/under is 9:10 at the rate the US steeple has been going these days.
Here again we have an altitude trained athlete doing great in the distances. congratulations to hall, the highlight of her career.
Congrats Sara! We are proud of you! U.S. women are going to be kicking ass on a regular basis from here on out!
Pretty cool.
First US running gold at the Pan Am's. Silver and bronze in the women's and men's 4x100 are the only other running medals so far. The field events are a bit more respectable.
totally agree with you but on a side note...Good for her its a Gold Medal
Santa Rosa is the new LA....
Glad to see her win by a comfortable margin, but I agree, 10:03 is super slow. 25 women have gone sub-9:20 and compared to the world record, Sara's 10:03 would be roughly equivalent to Ryan running a 2:18-2:19 marathon. A win is a win, but if it's that slow, it's still not a good performance.
It's a championship race, you efftards. The time is irrelevant. Dos Santos has a 2:06 marathon this year and won the 10000 in 29:00 (even slower than USATF pace!). The venue is at altitude and hot - they weren't running to post fast times for letsrun haters. They ran to win.
Yes, keep in mind it was at 5000+ ft and ~80 degrees at race time too. Awesome race Sara!
I'm not saying Sara ran super fast or beat anyone incredible, but a win is a win and a gold is a gold. NICE JOB.
Pan-am might not be the olympics, but good runners do show up.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
