Will he break 1:05:00 for an OT Qualifier? Over/Under...
I think he can easily go under 1:05, but I think he should run this race as a workout (1:04:59 - even splits) leaving lots of room for improvement. If he goes out at 1:01 pace .. dies and runs 1:03:59, this may be a confidence debilitation.
DNS or DNF
Fingers crossed
1:06:58 (1 second slower than Kara's lifetime best)

His 1/2 pr is 63 and change. The other 1/2s have been 65 and 66.
Goucher has been healthy for almost a year, but has been very careful with his training. I suspect that a sub 65 will be an all out effort for him at this point, especially with such a long layoff from racing.
He'll qualify for the Trials with a 1:03:46. Don't count him out- he's a tough dude.
Well under. Just happened to watch 5,000m Nothing Comes Easily last night so I'm rather excited to read this, thanks.

I was thinking about starting a thread asking people if they had seen that movie. Its really good! I borrowed it from my college library in 2006 and never gave it back, haha!
I think it depends if he is update.
I forgot he's running Philly. Hopefully he pops a good one.
depends if he can channel his inner deer or not
I assume it's an easier course, if he's going for the qualifier?? But either way, he is impossible to predict w/o truly knowing his training. When Rupp or Ritz race, there's an easy time window to predict within. With Goucher, he could run a crazy 62:30, or faulter to 69 mins or a DNF. And read people: I didn't say 69 mins was likely- but it's in the cards, as sometimes an athlete's decline is quick & steep.
Aren't all the Rock n Roll events generally flat/fast courses?
cant we still call it the philadelphia distance run. at least on this board get rid of the rnr crap. what do i know i havent done it in like 8 years or more(which prob means 12 years lol). Anyway i predict 104:10
DNS or DNF.
Dude is a headcase never-was who only ever appeared "elite" because he ran during an era when U.S. distance running was stagnant.
Goucher would get crushed by most D1 athletes. Time to hang 'em up and retire like a man.

That's cold (if you intended it the way it is written).

yeah, cuz placing 8 seconds off first place in a sub 2:23 closing kilometer in the olympic final is "appearing" elite.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
