What is it and what's the lowest it's been?
I had mine measured today around noon and it was 49bpm. Whoot! Sub 50 is pretty good, especially during an aroused state (jokes welcome).

I've woken up in the morning and it has been 42. Usually 50 or so. I can tell when I'm over-reaching a bit in my training when it's 60+ and I'm sitting.
49ish here too. It went up for like 3 weeks recently, but it's starting to feel normal again.
My "PR" is 39. Although that was laying in bed in the morning when I was in the best shape of my life, and I think I was subconsciously trying to lower it even more with slow, deep breathing. Does anyone else find they can control their resting heart rate simply by controlling whether you take slow and deep breaths or shorter, shallower ones?

You can lower your HR by holding your breath. I was talking to the nurse while mine was recorded, so I figure if I had just woken up and was trying to keep it low I'd be upper 30s. I just finished my first 100+ mile week, so I'm probably close to as aerobically fit as ever.
37
what if we thought about things for more than 2 minutes.
5! I died twice in that minute, but they brought me back! Whoot for modern technology man!!! right now it's probably...high 40s
39-40 when I'm fit. Currently 44. Check it every morning prior to peeling out of the sack. Any variations warn of over training or other impending health issues.
My coworker did mine the other day - 46. Just did my second 100 mile week.
Mine's 48 right now (I measured for 30sec and doubled). That's better than I thought it would be. I'm up to 90mpw, but building up so I'm kind of fatigued.
The lowest I've measured it at is 36, that was laying in bed though and I was way, way fitter.
My great aunt, when she was in her early 60s, had a heart rate around the mid-30s. She was reasonably healthy I guess, probably went for walks a few times a week, but certainly not a fitness nut or anything. So it's not purely a measure of your fitness.
I measured mine at 48 @ 8AM this morning after a cup of coffee and being awake for 2 hours (i sit at a desk also). dunno what my sleeping heart rate is.
i just remeasured it at 48. sweet.
42 resting.
I can slow my heart rate by focusing on it and 'willing' it to slow down. Sometimes I do this when I'm having trouble getting to sleep. I guess it's possible that what I'm really doing is subconciously lowering my breathing rate. I read years ago that it was possible to control heart rate this way, tried it, and found that it generally works.
The lowest I've seen from an athlete was Miguel Indurain--28. That's getting close to dead.
A lower number is not necessarily better. It could mean an enlarged heart. Kind of like what Ryan Shay had.
My friend who run 90mpw only has a resting HR of about 55. his max is 210+.
44 right now, lowest recorded 38.
46.
Was in the hospital this summer overnight and the heart monitor would set off alarms every time it dropped below 50.
Didn't get much sleep that night!
