For the past number of months, my legs have been corrupted by weakness. It feels difficult to run and push forward, even though I feel fine cardiovascularly. I breath very little, but my legs feel atrocious.
Cross-Country practice started three weeks ago and the workouts have been somewhat mediocre. When doing intervals, my legs feel like they are going to collapse.
My first 5K of the season was somewhat decent. I ran an 18:22 and felt strong the entire way. The next day my legs felt strong during my easy 1.5 mile recovery run. The next day (Monday) we did a set of intervals (1600, 1200, 1000, 1000.)
The 1600 felt fantastic. I sped through it with my fellow teammates effortlessly. I ran up hills and each stride was powerful and my legs felt strong. We finished the mile in about 5:20 and I felt great. I wasn't breathing hard, my heart wasn't racing too much and I was ready for the next intervals.
However, the 1200 and 1000's were terrible. My legs suddenly felt dead, and each stride I took hurt and my legs felt weak. My time's slowed considerably, even though I had the cardiovascular endurance.
I rarely breath hard when I run, but my legs feel like trash.
Any ideas, suggestion or general feedback?
