Track - and field?
Surely it must be the victory in the men’s shot of Germany’s David Storl.
Just turned 21, he repeatedly set personal bests to win the men’s shot amongst a field of giants - and he must be by far the youngest ever winner in that event.
JENNNNNYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just gonna say yeah, it's the German shot put guy. Three career bests in the meet, he defeats Dylan Armstrong of Canada, and no medals for the Americans. Bot that we CARE about the shot, but that guy's the biggest surprise.
Jeilan would be one and I'd have to admit that in a race with Cheruiyot, Linet Masai, Defar and Melkamu, I didn't have Kipyego down as my pick for 10k silver medal.
Bolt not winning the 100m was rather surprising.
Matt Centrowitz! People said he would not make it past the first round. Bronze medal.

Not really, there were many people thinking he could get bronze. Now did anyone think Jenny B would get gold?
they only thought he'd be a contender after watching the semifinals. i'd go so far to say that nobody on here thought he had a medal chance until two days ago.
No one thought Centro would bronze before the championships started. And if you go back just over a year Centro was only 3rd on his own college team.

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
