I have to agree that referring to these guys as "athletes" debases the whole meaning of the word.

Check out Sonya Thomas on the "athlete" bios. She doesn't really look like a big eater...
Oh, yeah, and check out her PR's. 65 hard boiled eggs in 6 minutes, 40 seconds...crap!
And I love corned beef hash, but 4 lbs in under 2 minutes. That is insane.

I disagree. I can easily out-eat a room full of overweight, so-called big eaters when I set my mind to it. Hands down.
That's one of the primary benefits of being a runner.
Splain this to me Lucy...
Sonya (see photo below)is ranked #2 in the world over

Eric Booker, who is only #4

How does Eric live with himself?
I am sorry, I just can not stop posting.
I found the distance runner of the group, The Marathoner, if you will of competitive eating (I can not believe I just types that)

Read his bio, he has just moved down to the shorter events.
OK, maybe THOSE guys listed at the site reflect poorly on the word "athlete." But I think I'd stand a chance at finally being something beyond a village-class athlete if I took up competitive eating. The training I'm doing is perfect for it...
Do I get my choice of soft drink? I would have to pick something that isn't carbonated or it would be a problem. But if I can get some type of fruit punch or something I think I could do it. I agree that the sundaes would be the hardest part because of the cold. You might mix it up and eat a little bit of it first then eat the other food then eat the rest at the end.
If I had not seen the website myself I would have sworn this was something out of The Onion or an urban legend like Ruben running a 20 min 5k or negative cal food.
Make it stop!
i just did four sets of 5 by applepie at 3 minute pace and am now quietly confident in my ability to go sub 4. You people will remeber this historic event fifty years from now...forget Bannister
OK, after my 10.5 mile easy warmup, I did a coupla sets of 12 x hot wings, with a pint Pickaroons' Red rest between sets, and a ham and cheese melt with fries cool down. Based on the modified VDOT tables, I think I'm good for a 15:00 5k(g) spaghetti this Sunday. Any bets?
this has nothing to do with speed eating, but it's fun nonetheless: the taco bell $10 challenge. pretty simple, just buy at least $10 worth of taco bell shit and eat it. ive completed this once but it sure tougher than i thought it would be before attempting it. took several hours for my stomach to calm down. oh and although i didnt come up with the idea and dont know the precise rules, but i think those cinnamon stick things might be the only thing on the menu off limits
Shit, Cool-hand Luke couldn't even touch her!

There is a ritual in our flat at university.
The 4 pint challenge.
4 pints of water as quick as possible (puking allowed). However the water must be swallowed first, no spillage.
The record is 26 seconds.
I know you probably think water!!...easy. If so give it a go!
What about Wendy's dollar menu. I can't remember the whole thing, but definetely 10x better than McDicks dollar menu:
Jr Cheeseburger
Chili
Side Salad
Small Frostee
Baked Potato
What else??? I can't remember.
Wendys value menu:
5 piece chicken nuggets
Jr. Bacon cheeseburger
Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe
Medium fries
Medium cola
Small Frosty
Small Chili
Sour Cream and chives baked potato
Side Salad
Caeser side salad
Very doable. I'd say 8-10min if you're an above hungry.
That is definetly doable, but I don't think the time allotment is enough. Chili and chicken nuggets? Not to mention to cheeseburgers (even if they are juniors). At least with Mcdonalds Dollar Menu there are only two sandwiches. And every one in the business knows a Frosty is one of the hardest things in the world to eat fast. That baked potato scares me as well. I will have to start with the McDonalds Dollar menu and work my way up.
Brilliant thread.
For the record, Wendy's Value Menu is only 99 cents per item...
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
