Hey All,
Thanks for the combination of training and real life insights. My take away is as we age, a singular/monoclinical approach to running is expanded to include strength/flexibility work for the physique, and some alternative activities to engage our minds.
I've always loved X-C skiing, even though people whom I could easily out run would leave me in the proverbial dust on pair of well waxed skiis.
It's a solace now to finish a 54K ski outing within 30 minutes of my fastest times as a 20YO, while at the end of my marathon career I was fully 90 minutes slower than the PR's of my 30's.......go figure.
The week in review; Hustled to get wood in the house and shed in preparation for the Deer Season which began on Sat. Nov22.
Bundling up for below normal temps left me feeling like a Michelin man/ Pillsbury Dough Boy morph. Waddling around the sticks for 8-10 hours left me fatigued to the point where any sort of workout was out of the question. We did take 2 bucks and I found out I was no longer even a remote match for the ",CC all conference" young fellow who hunts with us, when it comes to dragging a deer from the woods.
The only way to quantify any of this is to say my resting pulse, BP, and overall weight is all holding steady.
Best of times to all who toe the line at your Turkey Trot of choice.
Mopak, old buddy from the days of DYRT, you rock!!
