The truth is that most people who bag on DII or DIII don't care so much that these divisions exist, they just don't want those people to receive any recognition or accolades. The logic being that average joe DI runners (such as themselves) don't get any special recognition and thus they feel compelled to denigrate DII or DIII runners who they naturally feel superior to either due to the fact that they are in DI, or because they are actually faster (but still not that special).
It's really just an ego thing. That's why these kids feel compelled to post threads about how 'slow' the DMR was at DII or DIII nationals.
