He just beat Bolt and he looked as serious as ever after the race and in the interview, if he lightened up I think he would gain a lot more fans.

Saw him post-victory at a meet, signing autographs, posing for pictures, doing all the right stuff...Never smiled, never changed expression.
He means business. Just because he isn't as flashy as Bolt doesn't mean he isn't classy.
As another person who doesn't smile... just because we're not smiling doesn't mean we're not happy. Maybe he thinks his smile looks bad.
My bet is that he was smiling on the inside.
White folks like their nigras grinnin'.
he does not have great likability...as an American...i could care less if he does good or bad. He seems full of him self.
The guy that programmed him apparently forgot to include a happiness algorithm. Hopefully that will be updated in the next firmware version.
Tyson is an EXTREMELY shy guy who happens to be good in a field which usually attracts extroverts and egomaniacs. Not everyone likes being famous.
he definetly lost me as a fan when they interviewed him on the PA at the PRE meet. his excuses regarding his 200m at pre were just silly, and he came off like a pompous and ungrateful prick. we were like, "you ran great, man! be happy!"
Congratulations to him for the win!!!

It sucks having high standards.

Quit being an ass. First of all, it's "I couldn't care less." Try to understand the logic of your statement.
Second, you're clueless about Gay. He only seems "full of himself" to you and others who don't understand what it's like to be a shy and reclusive person who doesn't handle the media well.
How does a person who's full of himself say, "[Bolt is] a legend and it's very important to beat him. It means something for the excitement of the sport. But I did not beat him running 9.5. I beat him running 9.8."
Tyson is the wise zen master of the 100 meters. I respect him immensely, and I think his calm, focused, and business-oriented attitude is a nice break from the machismo of American sprinting in the past decade.
If fans of the NBA/NFL/NHL/MLB can forgive its player's for rape, assault, cheating on wives, carrying guns, not trying, greed...then you should be okay with Tyson having a "boring" personality.
Tyson Gay is one of the classiest acts in all of track and field. He works hard and races harder. When he gets to the starting line, he's the only one who doesn't hide behind some facade, he's nervous, but intense and ready to go. I don't know how you people think he comes off as arrogant or whatever, but he is humble and honest. If that isn't enough for you guys to be a fan, and he needs to run around making a fool of himself like the other athletes in his field, then nobody can help you.

You say this, but Gay has been quoted in articles as being upset of being in Bolt's shadow. If he showed any personality whatsoever as a top American sprinter, he would be better liked and more marketable, regardless of Bolt.
Gay said he's upset it's Bolt in the Gatorade commercials and commercials where all American athletes are featured and then Bolt. Well, nobody wants to see you scowl and drink a bottle of Gatorade at the same time, Tyson.
Two perspectives on smiling:
"If you smile when no one is around, you really mean it...." Andy Rooney
"You're never really dressed without a smile..." "Martin Charnin
Some people think they look like fools walking around with a smile plastered on their face, Tyson is a more pensive type of person. He's not a show-off joking machine, he is who he is and he is Awesome!
Not very natural, but there it is:
