I'm surprised he thought 2:05 at Boston was "crazy". He must not have read the message boards here to see just how easy it is to run faster there than London or Chicago.
He sounds like Deena to me >_>

Except that when Geb "fell apart" in his last two marathons he was still less than 3 mins off of his PB, which also happens to be the WR.

In order for him to run that fast he's going to need pacers who can chase him down until the end. IOW, he's going to need guys running who can beat him and he doesn't seem to like that. I think he has a better chance of that at Chicago, but I'm not sure he wants that.
The myopia on this board never ends. Go watch the last two laps of the 10K final at the Sydney Olympics. Tergat vs. Geb. Geb thrives on competition. Yes, he's dropped out of marathons but he's also answered challenges. The 2:03:59 was run against stiff competition until the last 5K. He's answered the bell far more than he's dodged it. He has had a long and successful career. To run the 10K in the Beijing Olympics shows that he knows he has nothing left to prove. It is all about managing the last parts of a very fine career.

Well said. He was and still is a competitor. In his earlier days he ran mostly against people, with the occasional race for world records. And he showed his mettle again and again. If late in his career he wants to compete against himself and lower the marathon WR (once again), more power to him. He doesn't need to meet the expectations of the LRcom kids.
Bunch of losers! Get your butt of the couch first before critisizing a man who's broken 27 WRs.
If you can criticize Geb like this, there is no runner ever that is above your criticism. Bekele's done, Bannister would get crushed nowadays, .... Thanks for your contributions.
I thought that Mr. Gebrsellasie was running NYC this year!

he ran the half, i think that was it
He's hit the ceiling and now he's coming back to the ground with a crash..
"2:02 is very possible."... Yeah it is, but not for you, old man.
The guy faced Komen in the 5000 and came out on top, he faced Tergat at the 10000 and came out on top. He faced Bekele at the 10000 more than once and lost with class and dignity. The people dissing him focus only on his Marathon career and ignore his exploits on the track and so must either be using selective information or are just too young to remeber Geb on the track, and about 15 yrs old max.
I can say I'm going to bang Beyonce tonight, that's not going to happen either.
He's already talking about Chicago, likely he goes there to dodge Wanjiru if he does Berlin. I really wish he would race Wanjiru in Chicago, with those two pushing each other it would be an awesome race even without a world record.
If he runs Chicago I think he runs 2:05-2:06. If Berlin maybe 2:04-2:05. I don't think he has another 2:03 in him and he certainly won't run 2:03 in Chicago.
Wanjiru's past it, its all about Kebede these days anyway.

Kebede's old news. Way past his prime. Seems to duck real competition anyway. Besides, he's on PEDs so who gives a c***?
Robby Andrews will own ALL those records in two years!
Mark my words.
