Ok heres my story, i have had shin pain on the inside of my shins for about 2 months now off and on (mostly on) that were occasionally very severe and i could hardly walk afterwards. I got new shoes (asics 2140s), and stopped running on the road. I took a week off and started running again on a treadmill, i could feel that my splints were still there but they didnt actually hurt, so i kept running. I ran 3 miles last friday on the road with no pain what so ever, then on monday morning at work they were sort of painful in the morning then went away through the way and i havent ran since then.
I have looked up everything there is to know about shin splints and have started doing a bunch of shin exercises for the past few days (toe raises, heel walking). I have done the "hop test" and can hop on each foot with well over 10 hops but with pain, though not excruciating pain. I went to the orthopediest today and we decided for me not to get a MRI or bonescan because im going in the military and dont want a possible stress fracture to get me kicked out. I have high arches, so i got some arch supports today. How long should i rest and what do you guys think?
Dont bother linking me anything about splints by the way, i can guarantee you i have read everything there is to know about them.
Thanks
