I was wondering if anyone else is in my situation:
I ran a marathon last year that qualified me for this coming Boston Marathon. The problem is, I don't think I'm really of the disposition currently to commit to really training for it--I'm in my first year of professional school, and running is just taking a backseat to other interests and school. That said, I'm unsure as to whether I'd be able to qualify again in the future, so I figure this is the now or never opportunity.
So, I'm thinking that I'm going to run Boston without really training (like 50mpw or so), and basically just run to complete the race. I'm in my early 20s, but I'm just not sure how much time in the future I'll have for real marathon preparation, and I'm not even sure whether I want running to be as big a part of my life as it is for marathoners.
Do people normally do this sort of thing for Boston? I've only run one marathon and don't know much about the 'scene,' but I would think that because of the qualifying times, Boston attracts only serious marathoners who will be training a lot for it. Is there anything to this?
