leading and steps of the track at 1500 m
It looked planned, the way she was hammering hard from the start and how she just stepped aside, but did anyone hear about it beforehand?

You are an idiot.
They called her a rabbit in the online broadcast. And it would be the strangest DNF because she ran hard from the start and then stepped into lane 2 just before 1500 when she stopped.
sorry if you find my question offensive. which by the way is why i don't post with a real name here. This IS letsrun after all.Nevertheless, the race was somewhat baffling. The rabbit takes them through a quick 1000m and steps off, with Wurth-Thomas right on her heels. She looked like she was working hard, maybe a little too much too soon, but also in control. Burka appeared to be hanging on at 1400 m...and then suddenly is all way out in front on her own. What happened? Now is that a dumb question--you stupid jerk.

So you watched the entire race without audio?
My apologies if you are deaf.
If you are not deaf then you are an idiot.
I thought Wurth had the win, then she stepped off the track.
She must have been paid as a rabbit.
Too bad.
I wish that had not happened as Wurth was stronger than Burka and would have won the race.
Why have a sub 4 minute 1500 runner, who is as fast or faster than Burka, and is more aggressive than Burka, be a rabbit???
It was nuts. A bad decision.
from iaaf
And don’t discount one or two of the others from the World Championships 1500m final to make their presence felt too though USA’s Christin Wurth-Thomas, who was fifth in Berlin and last Friday in Zürich, is set to be a pacemaker.
There it is. Some of you are something else.
Yeah, she was one of the two rabbits.
You gotta like modern races, they have a rabbit for the rabbit.
The British announcers stated that Wurth-Thomas was "the last two there are the rabbits."
I was kinda surprised that the #6 placer at the WC's would be rabbiting.
But, the offer must have been well compensated, or a good faith favor through back channels with agents etc.
She ran perfectly for a rabbit, unlike so many of the men rabbits lately.
Since you indicate that you watched the race, I don't understand why you don't understand. It was all rather simple - C.W-T was the second rabbit. I thought for a second that she might try and keep going, but she was hammering too much in her last 300m to be able to keep going. Maybe she wanted the money from rabbitting a world-record attempt. The pace was dropping anyway - Burka was getting gapped - from 2.43 at 1000 to 2.46 for the next 500m, Burka ran the last 500m at 2.48 pace. If C.W-T was truly planning to race to the end, it is doubtful that she would try to drop Burka that far out, especially with a potential WR on the line.
I watched the race online, with somewhat broken coverage, did not listen to the commentators, and did not read the pre-race announcement. So I thought she was going for the win, until she stepped off. And then I thought, was that a rabbit or a DNF? And yes it looked like she was hammering on her last lap. It's not very often that you see a recent top 5-6 WC finisher do rabbit duties in an event such as this.Did not see any posts here, so I asked the question. Why don't you understand why I didn't understand? IMO that was an understandable question to ask.

NEXT TIME LISTEN TO THE FREAKING COMMENTARY!!!
CAN YOU HEAR ME???
I SAID...CAN YOU HEAR ME YOU STUPID SACK OF SHIT?!?!?
I thought the announcers were a little condensending to Burka after her WC problems. They talked about how she had wanted to go back home and how the race organizers set up the 2000 for her to go after the world record. Then on the final when it was apparent she wouldn't get the record, the announcers proclaim that the race was all about just winning. Say what!? That race was all about trying to get Burka a WR after her bummer of a WC, nothing else.
Burka has run only 2:07.05, 3:58.79.
She should be running the 5000 meters except there are other Ethiopians who are faster.

I also was watching the meet online, paying little attention to the women's 2,000m until the last couple of laps. I heard one of the commentators say that it was now just Burka against the clock, so it didn't shock me when Wurth-Thomas went wide and quit, but any sane person who didn't know how these races are set up would have been surprised, because you generally don't expect to see a team or individual quit a competitive sporting event while in the lead. Those of us who aren't surprised to see such incidents have simply become inured to the farce of a paced "race."
Well, it was supposed to be a closer race. Folks expected more from Vivian Cheruiyot.

Now quit pulling your punches. It's plain to see that the OP is a complete idiot.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
