Anyone else feel like Teg's 12:58 isnt as big of a deal. I mean I know it is huge to have Americans running this fast, but after Ritz' 12:56 I just saw Teg's 12:58 and said thats good. Where for when I saw Ritz' 12:56 I was just shocked and amazed.

Who cares
Ritz definitely stole the "thunder". Teg ran awesome, but it just doesn't have the same feeling. Sorry Teg!
Considering the weather, Teg's accomplishment is actually superior.
One reason Ritz's was more exciting, is it was the first time in 13 years...
Now, a second in 7 days, ho-hum, you have gotten used to it.
Plus the camera work was not as good, or exciting, and Teg did not stir the crowd by moving up in the last mile.
Ritz stirred the crowd and the announcers...
Teg was off the back of the lead pack most of the way through.
It is too bad we did not have a cam isolated on Teg, it seemed he was poised to break the American record with 400 to go...was he spent all out at the end?
Both however are absolutely headline news, ground breaking, era changing stuff.
It's a big deal for Teg.
It also makes one wonder just how many potential world class guys we have out there when you realize such a miniscule portion of the population gives the sport any attention or has any interest in trying it.
Ground breaking era changing stuff? Call me when they shatter the WRS. Its a nice run but you guys have to stop jizzen in your pants whenever a white Caucasian male breaks 13 min. Especially with all the new technology equipment heavenly invested by Nike today. You should expect a lot more Caucasians to break 13 min in the future because if they don't than that was a really bad investment by Nike. But the world doesn't change in one day you know. Mottram took geb to the wire in 2004 when he ran 12:55. He actually beat bekele and got 2nd in the commonwealth games. It's been done before.
and a bronze medal
Any video floating around for those that haven't seen it?
in my country, you tegboy a joke.
he run 10k.
is there such a thing as a black caucasian male, or to be more precise, an african caucasian male? "white caucasian" sounds kind of redundant.if a lot more guys don't break 13 in the future, that DOES NOT mean it was a bad investment by nike, because the runners under nike still improved and did something they may not had done otherwise, and american distance running would still be where it was 20 years ago. No one is expecting the world to change in one day, where did that come from? who do you think you are lecturing? The fact is 2 American-born runners, or maybe even 2 Americans, have never broke 13 min in the same year before. This is the first time we've done it, and Rupp may be on the way as well(in the future). Webb, Derrick and Fernandez may get there in the near future (1-4 years) also. I think we are going to start seeing a lot more Americans breaking 13.And it's okay for Americans to be excited. This IS something to be excited about. It isn't like Tegenkamp, Ritzenhein, and the rest of the U.S. distance running community doesn't know what it's up against. But it is a big step in the right direction. Let's add some positive support to that and watch it grow.
